A video, jointly made by the Anhui-based University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) and Tsinghua University Press, won the Expert's Choice Award at the 2015 Visualization Challenge, known as the Vizzies.
A couple of days ago, the United States' National Science Foundation (NSF) and the magazine of Popular Science announced the winners of the Vizzies, including China'sBeautiful Chemistry.
The phrase "chemical reactions" may strike many people as tedious laboratory work and exams scribbled with equations. However, Liang Yan, a professor of the USTC, finds art in this basic science. With a state-of-the-art 4K camera, Liang and his colleagues shot a video captioned "Beautiful Chemistry" to showcase colorful and detailed chemical reactions.
The Vizzies is known for celebrating the use of visual media to clearly and accessibly communicate scientific data and research.
